Immunohistochemistry
Immunohistochemical stains are widely used in the diagnosis of abnormal cells such as those found in cancerous tumors. Eastern Carolina Pathology utilizes the latest technologies in equipment and procedures to provide pathologists and clinicians with the most precise diagnosis available.
Our immunopathology laboratory section operates state-of-the-art, automated advanced stainers from Ventana providing flexibility, consistency, and accuracy. We offer one of the most extensive library of stains in the Carolinas, with over 140 immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent and other special stains and panels available through Eastern Carolina Pathology and UniPath, our sister laboratory in Denver, Colorado.
In addition, we utilize image analysis-based, quantitative microscopy to provide quantitative standardized interpretation of immunomarkers for selected antibodies/specimen types (e.g. for breast panels, ER, PR, Her2, and Ki67). Our quantitative microscopy platform is Ventana VIAS.
