Bill Tilton Mr. Tilton has 30+ years of experience in the laboratory industry starting in 1980. He was most recently Vice President of Clinical Laboratory Operations for Nodality, Inc., a San Francisco-based biotech company. Previously, Mr. Tilton was Vice President and GM for NeoGenomics Laboratories, directing operations in Florida, California, and Tennessee, as well as corporate IT. His previous appointments include eight years of research and clinical work in pediatric hematology at Columbia University and Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Mr. Tilton also spent 14 years with DIANON Systems, Inc. serving in various management roles including QA, operations, and IT. He also served two years as GM of UroCor, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a provider of anatomic pathology, molecular genetics, and cytogenetics services. Additionally, Mr. Tilton served as Vice President and GM of Oncology for Esoterix, Inc., managing facilities accross five states providing hematopathology, flow cytometry, molecular genetics, and cytogenetics services. Mr. Tilton holds a B.S. in biology from Long Island University with a minor and certification in secondary education science and a M.S. in biology from the University of Hartford. |

James B. Cash, M.D. Dr. Cash is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Cytopathology. He is also board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Cash's areas of interest include surgical pathology, gynecologic pathology, gastrointestinal pathology and urologic pathology. Dr. Cash is co-founder and President of Eastern Carolina Pathology, P.A. as well as member of ECP's executive committee. After earning a B.A. degree cum laude from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Cash earned an M.D. degree in 1977 from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, Kentucky, where he also completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Cash completed a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri. He then returned to the University of Kentucky Medical School as Chief Resident and Instructor in Pathology, and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology. Dr. Cash is active in a number of professional organizations, including CAP, ASCP, North Carolina Pathology Society, and the Wilson County Medical Society. Dr. Cash currently serves as Laboratory Medical Director of the Heritage Hospital, Tarboro, North Carolina, and County Medical Examiner for the North Carolina Medical Examiner System. |

D. Cheryl Thorne, M.D. Dr. Thorne is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as in the subspecialties of Cytopathology, Blood Banking, and Forensic Pathology. Her primary areas of interest are cytopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and coagulation and blood banking. Dr. Thorne is also a co-founder of Eastern Carolina Pathology and currently serves as the Medical Director of the APP/ECP laboratory. After earning a B.S. degree in bacteriology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Dr. Thorne earned her M.D. degree in 1974 from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill where she also completed he residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She then went on to complete fellowship training in Blood Banking at North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as well as a fellowship in Forensic Pathology with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Thorne also has special training in renal pathology and electron microscopy. She is member of several professional organizations including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), American Association of Blood Bank Institutions, and the Wilson County Medical Society. Dr. Thorne also serves as Laboratory Medical Director for Halifax Memorial Hospital, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. |

Connie Davis, HT(ASCP) Ms. Davis has over 20 years of technical and administrative experience in laboratory operations, with histology being her main focus for over 18 years. Ms. Davis currently serves as Eastern Carolina Pathology's administrative manager with oversight of all laboratory technical and administrative operations. Ms. Davis has worked as a histology technician in both hospital and private laboratory settings. Her work experience spans multiple areas, including phlebotomy, histology, and laboratory administration and management. Ms. Davis is certified as a Histology Technician by the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists). |

Deborah "Debs" Payne, Ph.D. Dr. Payne joined in 2009 to lead our molecular laboratory division and currently serves as Vice President of Molecular Services. She was most recently Director of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where she was also Associate Professor of Pathology. She was also Director and a founding member of the Division of Molecular Diagnostics in the Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Payne received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas; and performed part of her post-doctoral training at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Payne is nationally recognized in molecular diagnostics, is an active speaker, well published and active member of numerous committees and industry organizations. She has held offices as the Chair of the Training and Education Committee for the Association of Molecular Pathology, as Chair of the Molecular Pathology division (2002-2003) for the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), as the Co-Chair for the NACB Laboratory Practice Guidelines Committee on Pharmacogenetics, as the only U.S. member is on the Committee for Molecular Diagnostics for the International Federation for Clinical Chemistry (IFCC), and as member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Payne is also a member of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) committee on reference materials, an advisor for the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), and a member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC). Dr. Payne also served as a voting member for the Molecular and Clinical Genetics Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Payne has authored or co-authored several book chapters, and 55 manuscripts, and is on the editorial board for LabMedicine. She is certified as a clinical laboratory technologist in Molecular Biology MB(ASCP), holds a Diplomate in Laboratory Management DLM(ASCP). She is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (FACB), and is board-certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in Molecular Diagnostics (DABCC) and by the American Board of Medical Microbiology (DABCC). Deb Evans, CT(ASCP) During her 30+ year career in the laboratory industry, Ms. Evans has worked in a variety of areas including laboratory operations and management, scientific research, teaching/education, quality improvement and safety. She is currently Director of Quality & Performance at American Pathology Partners. Prior to joining APP, Ms. Evans was a laboratory consultant focusing on a variety of operational areas, including laboratory workflow and quality improvement, facility planning, specimen cycle-time analysis, and supply utilization, among many other areas. Previously, for nearly two decades, Ms. Evans has held operating positions at several laboratory companies including Doctors Laboratory, Gainsville, Florida; Ameripath North Texas, Dallas, Texas; Quest Diagnostics, Irving, Texas; and ProPath, Dallas, Texas. These roles included laboratory management, policy development, best practices, six sigma/LEAN projects, quality assurance & regulatory compliance among other responsibilities. Ms. Evans holds a B.S. in education from Bowling Green State University. She continued her education at the University of Miami to pursue certification as a Cytotechnologist CT(ASCP). Ms. Evans ultimately worked there for 10 years, during which period she was involved in numerous research projects/scientific papers in flow cytometry, cytology,and drug outcome monitoring. In addition, Ms. Evans also provided support and taught cytology students and pathology residents as an Educational Coordinator. |
